Murphys Haystacks

Local legend says that Murphys Haystacks acquired its name from an agricultural expert who saw this landmark in the distance whilst travelling on the mail coach driven by Charlie Mudge.

Apparently the gentleman was very impressed and informed his fellow passengers that the farmer must have harrowed his land to produce such a great abundance of hay!

The Granites

The popular surf beach Granites boasts a lagoon-style rock-pool for the not-so-brave to swim in, while surfers can ‘catch a wave out the back’.

A stairwell provides access from the cliff top car park down to the waters below so you can soak in the scenery up close.

Point Labatt

Situated south of Streaky Bay is the beautiful Point Labatt.  Home to a large number of Sea Lions that love to strike a pose for visitors.  These wonderful creatures can be seen year round lazing in the sun and playing in the waves as they roll across the rock formations below.

The viewing platform is in a conservation park that does not allow pets to enter, so please leave your furry ones with a trusted friend.

Cape Bauer Loop

The Cape Bauer Loop drive is a scenic coastal drive that allows you to take in the majesty of the northern most loop, including access to The Spit (4WD only) and magnificent views of the Whistling Rocks & Blowholes.

Other points of interest off of this loop are the boat ramp, Back Beach and Hally’s Beach.

The Westall Way

The Westall Loop drive takes you south of Streaky bay and around some more spectacular and untouched coastline.  Taking in the sights at Smooth Pool and Granites, High Cliff, and a trip into the Yanerbie Sandhills – take your sandboard!

A good half a day is required to take all of the sights in.

Smooth Pool

A beautiful enclosed “pool” on the way around the Westall Loop gives travellers a chance to experience picture perfect snorkelling with abundant sea life and a reef.

Never fear, if snorkelling isn’t your thing – it’s still a beautiful place to sit down, relax and dip your toes in the crystal clear waters.
